What is ECU Programming?

Every new vehicle is developed with a slightly compromised engine calibration to allow for various factors in which it may be used – such as at high altitude, extremes of temperature, with poor grades of fuel, or even overdue servicing.

ECU remapping or reprogramming involves taking a read of this calibration and adjusting a variety of parameters such as fuel pressure and timing, boost pressure (in the case of turbo-charged engines), ignition advance, torque monitoring, and throttle pedal control so that the calibration can be optimised to unleash the full potential of the engine.

It is a completely safe process as it is just giving the engine the performance it should have had in the first place before all the compromises were applied to the original programming.

WHAT DO YOU ACTUALLY MODIFY IN THE VEHICLE?

No hardware changes are made to the vehicle – all we are doing is altering the calibration data within the ECU.

Physical alterations to the engine or transmission are not necessary with a Quantum remap, as the modifications we make are within safe limits and will not compromise the longevity of the vehicle’s mechanical components.

Benefits of ECU Programming

ECU remapping will not only improve the engines power and torque figures, it will also sharpen the throttle response and widen the power-band. This will make the power delivery a lot more linear, which in turn will make the vehicle feel a lot livelier to drive and the engine more flexible. Frequently, the vehicles power output is restricted by the manufacturer for no other reason than to ensure that the vehicle fits into a class to suit fleet buyers. As a driving enthusiast, you do not need or want such restrictions placed upon your vehicles ECU and its performance therefore you can benefit from the hidden power and torque locked away within your engine management system.

The other main benefit of remapping will be a reduction in fuel consumption. With the extra torque especially at the bottom of the rev range you will see a fuel saving, as it will require less throttle input to maintain motorway speeds, you can drive in a higher gear at a slower speed as well as helping significantly when fully laden, towing or on gradients and even in start stop traffic.

WHAT DO WE OFFER?

We offer the lowest cost quality tuning files in the remapping industry - and the more you buy, the cheaper they become.

Our file packages are available in monthly bundles, with additional “Bolt-On” credits if you find that you have used up your usual regular allocation early. Single file credits are also available for occasional customers.

All dealers have access to the same pricing structure and get the same level of service – which remains consistent in quality: we do not offer a cut-back “no frills” file service.

Our normal office hours are Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm, however our files room is open 7 days a week. You can make a request for an out of hours file via support@quantumtuning.co.uk

Our automated server (Quantum Files on Demand, affectionately referred to as ‘QFoD’) quickly supplies quality files, twenty-four hours per day. If QFoD doesn’t return a modified file, your original will be taken care of by our large team of talented in-house file writers, working extended hours, seven days a week.

All prices plus VAT at 20%, unless in Europe with a valid VAT number; or outside the EU.

Company Policy

SINGLE PRICING STRUCTURE

We have a transparent price structure – the price you see is the price you pay for a standard, “stage one” tune – whether you’re modifying a car, truck, tractor, or boat. You can choose between our standard, high power, or eco files, along with any combination of DPF, EGR, or speed limiter solutions which are available in most instances.

ACCOUNT FACILITIES

Account facilities are available if you want to pay monthly by Direct Debit, or retained debit card, with up to 45 days free credit.

DPF Service

We are at the forefront of providing software for DPF solution on supported vehicles - this can be a valuable income stream and is included in your tuning file cost.

Speed Limiter Bonus

The package also includes speed limiter removal on supported vehicles.

White Label File Service

• Joining the Quantum Tuning dealer group is good for your business, but it doesn’t suit everyone to be a visible Quantum dealer. We can supply you on a confidential basis - something we do for dozens of companies in the UK, Europe, and beyond.
• This is something we currently do for dozens of well-known companies around UK, Europe and the rest of the world.
• If ever questioned about the source of your files by a customer, your response is that you employ a top file writing company, under contract.
• You still get the benefits of our technical support and training. If you are in an area not covered by an existing dealer, you will also receive customer leads.

HOW TO BECOME A QUANTUM DEALER

We can offer a couple of ways of joining our dealer group, which route you choose depends on your current level of hardware ownership.

BUY YOUR OWN TUNING TOOL

File packages are available in bundles of 6, 14, or 25 with prices starting at the lowest cost plus VAT per unit.

How does this compare to our competitors? Whilst you may be able to purchase a Alientech Kess3 tool more cheaply from other suppliers (who sometimes sell them at an initial loss and then refuse to allow them to be transferred to an alternative supplier) you are likely to be tied in to a higher file price. A £75 price tag per file with a moderate turnover of 100 files per year would cost an additional £2500 when compared Quantum dealership.

IF YOU ALREADY OWN A TUNING TOOL

If you have Master tools then we can supply you files straight away. If you have an Alientech or CMD Slave tool it needs to be transferred to our Master first; but if your existing supplier refuses to transfer the tool, or wants to charge a large fee, then it can be more cost effective to have a new tool.

BENCH TOOLS

We encourage every dealer to invest in an Alientech K-TAG/Kess3 system for doing bench work on ECUs that have been removed from the vehicle. For those that don’t have this facility, we provide a bench programming service at discounted price: simply send or bring the ECU into us, and we will turn it round on the same day.
